l’etoiler: The Disarrayed Expose !
Guest: Osaretin Oghomwen, Author and Filmmaker
From the author: I am a filmmaker, I’ve directed a few short films in New York. l’etoiler is a book that I began writing and compiling for 6 years ago as a way to fundraise, but quickly became an artistic piece I kept an interest in long after my first short film completed its production. L’etoiler is a unique compilation of opinionated, intellectual essays and personal, revealing pieces of myself as an individual. It is a provocative balance between intelligible argument and very intimate and personal revelations through journal entries and brief pieces of writing.
Excerpt from the book: Listen to me and you can hear America’s lilt in my voice. Enlighten your ears to the unstressed accentuation of vowels and bland expression of phonetics. I’m sure you could diagnose me as a product from the preppy idylls of suburbia. As a child, the government kept my mind shallow. I wasn’t encouraged to perceive anything beyond the tax-paid roads and shiny, plastic toys. The subsidized comforts blinded me and stringed me along with puppet mastery until I stumbled upon the chicken, whose hazel-green eyes mirrored the eyes of a girl I once knew.
