Segment ONE

Mary Poppins at SLOC

            Let your imagination take wing with everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny, Mary Poppins! Tag along with Mary, Bert, Jane and Michael Banks, as they experience many magical and memorable adventures. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Segment TWO

Alabama Story at Albany Civic Theater

Barbara Davis, Director; Rich Cross “Senator E. W, Higgins”; Lucy Breyer “Emily Wheelock Reed” and Marquis Heath “Joshua Moore”

            In 1959 Alabama, segregationist Senator E.W. Higgins wants a controversial children’s picture book — about a white rabbit who marries a black rabbit — purged from the state library, but librarian Emily Wheelock Reed refuses, putting both of their worlds at risk in a time of extraordinary social change. While Reed spars with Higgins, a parallel story of childhood friends reunited in adulthood reflects the political and personal tensions swirling in Montgomery, a city known as both the Cradle of the Confederacy and the Cradle of Civil Rights. Famed illustrator Garth Williams (“Little House on the Prairie,” “Charlotte’s Web”) is conjured as narrator and participant in the fact-inspired, highly theatrical drama about tests of character in “the Deep South of the Imagination.”

          The six-actor play is inspired by real events that touch on Civil Rights and censorship in the Deep South. By spring 2019, the highly theatrical play will have been produced in at least 24 cities since its premiere, introducing the world to the little –known true story of the librarian named Emily Reed, who was persecuted by politicians for protecting a children’s picture book, in the Jim Crow South.

Diary of Anne Frank at Classic Theater Guild

            Director’s Comment: I know people can look at Anne Frank’s story in terms of today’s political landscape and draw parallels, which I choose not to do.  What does draw parallels for me are her words – her diary is filled with words of hope – inspiration – kindness – uplifting spirit – despite what her circumstances were when she was writing.  That is precisely what we need more of in this world once again.  As I have written in my director’s message – it’s not a Jewish play – it’s not tragedy — rather it’s a play about the human spirit – a celebration of the human spirit.

Frog Alley Brewing

            Every month we pick two charities to help raise money for them. We invite them in every Tuesday and all night $1 of every drink purchased gets donated to one of the two organizations but the consumer decides which one they donate to. The organizations can bring in any materials they want to help raise awareness and inform people and the charity that raises the most money that night wins. After the 4 weeks the charity that has won the most weeks, gets a bonus check form us as well.

Halloween Teaser

Maria Immediato, Halloween Aficionado & Carol Rymanowski, Paranormal Research

            Maria is a “Lover of All Things Halloween!”.  She’ll share her excitement with you. Her mission is to share and express not only my love for Halloween (and all things spooky), but to encourage everyone to pursue their passions, whether considered mainstream or not. “I loved this holiday before it was cool for adults to love it. So many of us have finally come out of that Halloween closet. I put my full effort into my parties because friends and family love it. I get great joy from seeing faces light up, or brave people refuse to enter my haunted basement attraction. Halloween…it’s not just for kids any more. And: this pairs very well with my love of the paranormal, and my psychic gifts.”

            Carol is the Co-Founder of Cohoes Paranormal Society. Their purpose is to investigate paranormal activity in homes or businesses free of charge to create peace of mind for the home or business owner.           His mission is to provide legal guidance and representation to individuals and businesses in a variety of areas, including estate planning, Medicaid eligibility, wrongful death, personal injury, corporate matters, employment matters, real estate transactions, and litigation.  During my appearance on the program, I would like to discuss some updates on new laws and legal trends, including new laws involving sexual harassment in the workplace, new laws which may impact access to medical care by Medicaid recipients, and other developments.  I am also happy to discuss any other legal issues or topics that you would like to bring up.
