Segment ONE
The Fabulous Beekman Boys & Beekman 1802 Sale

The Beekman 1802 Warehouse Sale is an annual event that offers up to 75% off the company’s vast array of gifts, beauty products, and more. The event will be held between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. In addition to shopping, visitors will have the opportunity to visit local food trucks and vendors. And, by pre-registering for a Fast Pass, visitors can get a free tote, a free hand salve ($20 value) AND bypass the lines to enter the sale.
We collaborate with local farmers & artisans to produce most of what you find both online and in our flagship store, Beekman 1802 Mercantile in Sharon Springs, NY. We work with our neighbors to help them grow their businesses. We produce our goods seasonally, because, well, that’s how our goats, chickens, and garden do it. We personally eat, use, and wash with the goods that we sell. And we’ll do anything to make sure that as our neighbor, you love everything you purchase.

Segment TWO
God of Carnage at Sch’dy Civic Players
Joe Fava, Director and Cristine Loffredo “Veronica Novak”
This is a Hilarious Comedy! Two eleven-year-old boys. A stick. Two broken teeth. A playground altercation brings together two sets of parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the evening progresses, tensions emerge and the gloves come off. There are tears, tantrums, name calling and violence, as the conventions of polite society break down to reveal the brutality beneath the polished middle-class exteriors of the Novaks and the Raleighs.
Winner of the 2009 Tony Awards for Best Play, God of Carnage is a brash and hilarious exploration of Human nature. The original Broadway production starring Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini, and Marci Gay Harden, closed on June 6, 2010, after 24 previews and 452 regular performances, making it the third-longest running play of the 2000s.

Segment THREE
Trestle at Pope Lick Creek at Albany Civic Theater
Sean T. Baldwin “Dalton Chance” & Caroline Codd “Pace Creagan”
Pace Creagan, a tough, charismatic girl, ropes Dalton into her greatest obsession: running the trestle that spans the dried-up Pope Lick Creek, playing chicken with the 7:10 train. In a town wasted by the economic depression, in which neither Dalton’s nor Pace’s parents can offer them any future hope, there is nothing for them to do but court death in order to feel alive. The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek unrolls its spare, bleak beauty, timelines converge and the living and dead collide in this rough, poetic drama which explores inter -generational devastation, economically hopeless circumstances, emerging sexuality, and the wondrous human imagination.

Color Run at Brown School

Brown School is excited to announce their third “Color Outside with Brown School” 5K (run/walk) for the entire Capital Region community. The event, to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Central Park, Schenectady, is sponsored by Best Fitness and is a fundraiser for the nursery through grade 10 independent school. This year there is a festive Star Wars theme that includes a costume contest. The day kicks off with a kid’s one-mile race at 10:45am, followed by the 5K Color Run at 11:00am.
Organizer of the race and Brown School Administrative Assistant, Elizabeth Ritz, is excited to bring this event to the community once again. “We love this event because everyone has so much fun. For those who have never participated, Color Run participants are sprayed with bright, safe, non-toxic powder. We’re excited to have Star Wars as a theme to see what people come up with for costumes,” said Ritz.

Turkish Paper Marbling Exhibit at NYS Folklore

New York Folklore (NYF) opens a new exhibit gallery at 129 Jay Street in Schenectady, NY. The mission of New York Folklore’s new folk art gallery is to present the work of New York-based artists who are currently pursuing arts that are learned through their membership in a community or specific cultural group. The gallery will also showcase the documentation of New York’s folk arts and cultural traditions by regional folklorists working with communities and arts organizations throughout New York State. The new art gallery is Schenectady’s newest, and the only current art gallery within Schenectady’s Art and Entertainment District. The gallery will provide a destination for visitors to experience and engage with high quality traditional art forms that represent the diversity of New York State. The first solo exhibit featured in the gallery will be Ebru: The Art of Turkish PaperMarbling with Hatice Erbas-Sorkunlu. The exhibition will be available for viewing through Labor Day 2019.
