miSci is a dynamic science center that explores the area’s rich technological heritage while celebrating and fostering a regional spirit of invention and imagination.
2017 Eclipse Across America
On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will cross the continental United States. The last time a total solar eclipse crossed the United States from sea to sea was June 8, 1918. The 2017 eclipse in either total or partial phase can be seen by over 500 million people in North and South America, Europe and Africa. Here in the Capital Region of New York, we will experience a partial solar eclipse where 66% of the sun is covered by the moon. It is a truly historic event and a wonderful opportunity to view one of nature’s most stunning displays.
Dudley Observatory at miSci will have all-day Eclipse activities including solar observation, live streaming of eclipse coverage, and more.
Summer Science Classes:
Informal, hands-on STEM education for students entering Grades 1 through Grade 8. Topics include Robotics, Rockets, Space Academy, KEVA, and of course, CSI Crime Scene Chemistry, Electricity, and much more! Weeklong classes run 9 AM to 3:30 PM daily, with before- and after-care available. Classes run through Sept. 1. Registration is available online or by calling 382-7890 x237.

Since 2010, Brooklyn Art Song Society has been dedicated to presenting programs of the highest artistic caliber of the vast repertoire of poetry set to music in Brooklyn and across the United States. BASS believes that the aesthetic values of art song, it’s directness of expression, intimate setting, and emotional honesty, are essential artistic experiences that should be fostered and preserved for future generations. BASS also believes that art song should be enjoyed by the largest and most diverse audience possible, and is committed to maintaining truly affordable ticket prices and free ticket initiatives for the underserved to ensure access regardless of economic situation. We strive to be a vital institution and resource for Brooklyn, and to help raise Brooklyn’s stature as an international artistic capital.

Paul Della Villa, John Maurycy & Mechelle Smith will be inducted. There will also be a Legacy Tribute honoring the undefeated 1967 Mont Pleasant HS football team (ranked #1 in NYS).

Lustgarten Walk for Pancreatic Cancer Research

Our 1.2-mile handicap accessible, stroller friendly, pet friendly walk will honor the memory of those lost, by celebrating their lives and by fund-raising for a future that includes early detection and cure for Pancreatic Cancer. This family event will include a pick-a-prize auction; a 50/50 raffle; a pet parade, free donuts, coffee, tea, apple cider and water; a PC information area; face painting; purple hair extensions, chair massages, and live music by Code Blue Albany.
