The CanalFest at Mabee Farm

            Join us for CanalFest at Mabee Farm for a day of FREE fun, family activities as we celebrate the Erie Canalway!
            The festivities include live music, petting zoo and pony rides, rehabbed wild animals, historic boat rides, kayak paddling, food and craft beer, barn-raisings, kids activities, craft vendors, FREE ICE CREAM, demonstrations inspired by the Erie Canal, and family-friendly tours of the historic Mabee house.
            Sponsored by the Schenectady Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, Stewart’s Shops, and Schenectady County!

Upcoming Events – Jazz on Jay and More

            Jazz on Jay — Seven more Thursdays, always noon to 1:30 p.m. — all free thanks to sponsors MVP Healthcare, Schenectady County legislature and DSIC. Rain location is Proctors.

            Schenectady Summer Night is the biggest summer block party in the Capital Region! Enjoy food and drink vendors, family activities, a cannoli eating contest, live music headlined by SmashMouth and end the night with fireworks!

            Paws on the Patio invites you to bring your best friend out to enjoy “yappy hour” with you at local Downtown Schenectady restaurants! Taking part this year are Mexican Radio Schenectady, Mad Jack Brewing Company, Wolff’s Biergarten Schenectady, Slidin’ Dirty Schenectady, 151 Bar and Restaurant, and Clinton’s Ditch along with vendors Jake’s Jammin’ Bow Ties and Mutts & Barley.

            Color the Canal will be creating chalk art and installing art along the trail before the Cycle the Erie Canal cyclists roll into town. Help us celebrate the Erie Canalway system and welcome Cycle the Erie Canal ride cyclists to Schenectady County.

Empire State Aerosciences Museum

            From Website: The Empire State Aerosciences Museum is a one-of-a-kind cultural resource located at Schenectady County Airport in the Town of Glenville, NY, at the site of the former General Electric Flight Test Center. Dedicated to interpreting aviation, particularly as related to New York State, the Museum offers visitors a variety of enjoyable and educational experiences, including interpretive exhibits, a spectacular collection of restored aircraft, the state’s largest aviation library, as well as education programs.

Filmmaker “strip” (a feature film)

            This is an independent film that was mostly shot in NYC in 2018 with a strip club location used in Latham, NY (Nite Moves).

            Film’s synopsis: A crisis tests a bond between a father and his daughter. In order to save her father from ruin after a car accident leaves him handicapped, Arielle Smith enters the world of erotic dance then inadvertently faces consequences such as blackmail from a frenemy amongst other tragic occurings, and a realization that this new lifestyle is harder to quit. (Filmclip will be shown during segment)

            Filmmaker’s comment: I’ve done past short films in NYC and Vermont that have been picked up by SHORTS International and screened at New York Filmmakers Quarterly and Anthology Archives NYC.
