A live audience is always welcome and there are plenty of seats. You can meet the guests in person and learn more about their projects or even get involved yourself.

Waterford Museum’s Big Event

Moriah Formica, “The Voice” Contestant – Singer & Artist

            The Refrigerators return for the 3^rd Annual Dashin’ & Dancin’ Concert at the Cohoes Music Hall in support of the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center! This is a family-friendly, fun and festive event at the historic hall! It’s a fun night of fantastic funk and soul music with the Refrigerators, the 10-piece, horn fueled party band from the Capital Region of NY. For over 25 years, they have been one of the most sought-after bands in the Capital Region and Northeast. There’s the usual line-up of favorite songs but with a surprise this year! A special guest performance by local artist, Moriah Formica. Moriah, who at the age of 16, decided that she was ready to put her talents on the biggest stage that a teenager could dare to step on. She auditioned for NBC’s “The Voice”, leaving fans around the world (and four judges with very successful careers) awestruck. There’s no gimmick to this overnight sensation, regardless of what the critics might say. The formula is simple: show up, rock out, and leave the whole world asking, “Who was that?” We can answer that. It’s MORIAH!!!

Segment TWO

Laughter on the 23^rd Floor at Circle Theatre Players

Brian Sheldon “Max”, Executive Director & Bill Douglas “Milt”

            Based loosely on the time Neil Simon spent as a staff writer for the Sid Caesar, Laughter on the 23^rd Floor is a fast-paced comedy telling a story from a time when television started its entrance into the American family. In a room full of comedy writers, anything can happen. The play, along with crisp comedic writing deals with serious topics such alcoholism, substance abuse and McCarthyism.

Segment THREE

Thanksgiving Day – Troy Turkey Trot

            Now in its 72nd year, the Troy Turkey Trot is the nation’s 12^th and world’s 64th oldest road race, as well as the 11^th largest Turkey Trot in the nation.  The event, which celebrates fun, family and fitness against a backdrop of some of Troy’s most historic neighborhoods, draws as many as 8,000 participants from 40 states and features a 5K, 10K, Grade School Mile and Turkey Walk, while also raising funds for the event’s two charities, Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and Joseph’s House and Shelter. Nickolas Zacharzenko “Dr. Zach” DDS, MSD, RPh

            He has published Dr. Zach’s Amazing Catskill Critters. This book explores the often overlooked and forgotten fauna of the Catskills. These animals include insects, crustaceans, spiders, amphibians and reptiles; all that are usually loathed and avoided. Most are harmless to humans, and we should at least acknowledge them and appreciate their impact on the ecosystem. We are all in this together. He has also written: Bedtime Nature Tails “Dumpy the Caterpillar          

            From the Website: Dr. Zach publishes extensively in pharmacy, dental and nature journals as well as pharmacy textbooks. You can read his articles in Pharmacy Times, Drug Topics and Kaatskill Life Magazines. He and his daughter Brigette routinely collaborate to write nature articles together. His books are available on Amazon.com

            His practice is at Northern Catskill Dental and he specializes as a Prosthodontist.         

            His former athletic pursuits included competitive tennis (5.0 rating) and sprinting. Due to chronic Lyme disease, his main sports today are javelin and pickleball. He is coached in both by his son, the 2010 Albany Academy valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University and Duke University School of Law.
            Dr. Zach competes in various track meets in the area. A certified Master Gardener, he tends to his beloved blueberry bushes as often as he can!

All STEAM Ahead – The trains at miSci

            Go “Full STEAM Ahead” at miSci’s annual holiday train exhibit – a nostalgic delight for train and hobby enthusiasts of all ages!

            miSci celebrates the holiday season with its annual exhibit, Model Trains in Motion: Full STEAM Ahead!, an elaborate 19′ x 27′ layout constructed by Upstate Train Associates, boasting several running O Gauge model trains. In addition to several trains running continuously, visitors can see a host of other items that have been added to the display over the years, including animated toys and various rural and industrial landscapes. The trains that load and unload their cargo of barrels, lumber, and other objects always delight visitors. Watch the trains navigate through a variety of structures or conduct a scavenger hunt for objects and sights throughout the display.
