Maria Riccio Bryce’s Requiem Interview 10/23/24

Requiem at St Lukes
Maria Riccio Bryce – Composer / Creator
Devin Canavally -Bass Soloist
Requiem Is a 75 minute choral  work that combines settings of parts of the traditional Requiem Mass  with songs about Life, Death,  and where we might be going from here.
The Requiem premiered triumphantly at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Schenectady in November 2022, and, since then, has developed a real following.  It has been sung at various churches throughout the Capital District.  A Masterwork Performance by Siena College  is planned for March,  2025.
For the upcoming performance on November 3 , the Requiem will be sung  by an  especially- created chorus of 32 wonderful voices,  including Ann Marie Adamick,  mezzo soprano;  John Allen,  baritone; Kelly Blitz, soprano; Timothy Reno, tenor; and C. Fred Schwartz, bass.
‘REQUIEM: What Remains is Love’  celebrates the mystery,  honors the faith,  and gives singular voice to our mortality,  and to the eternity beyond.  It is a  musical masterpiece that is both a hymn to the living, and a sublime farewell to those we loved so well, who have left us.   It mourns the losses, and it sings the glory of invincible love.
Maria Riccio Bryce is a local composer/  lyricist.   Viewers may remember her as the creator of HEARTS OF FIRE,  a musical memorIalization  of the Schenectady Massacre of 1690,  which was presented twice at Proctor’s Theatre,  to great acclaim.
