From modern contemporary artwork to masterful calligraphy and painting, to the sounds of the guqin musical instrument, pipa, horse-head fiddle, tabla, sitar, and vibrant multi culture dance, Asian Arts New York’s first fundraising event blends timeless heritage with bold contemporary voices  Events are in the Armory Lounge and the Officers Club

This event is also being held in combination with Art Night Schenectady.

Journey of Love and Hope — A Peking Opera Musical

Experience a sweeping tale of compassion, love, and hope as celebrated director Linghui Tu reimagines the timeless melodies of Peking Opera. Set against the contrasting landscapes of modern America and Tibet, this original and moving production blends English dialogue, Peking Opera-style singing, live music, and Tibetan mantras to create a truly memorable performance, also highlights the universal power of courage, generosity, and hope.

Regular guests include Representatives from the Animal Protective Foundation; faculty from the various area institutions of higher learning discussing health and community issues; Representatives from City, County and State agencies; actors and directors from the theREP, Proctors Theatre, Circle Theatre Players at Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Schenectady Civic Players, Schenectady Light Opera, Albany Civic Players, Classic Theater Guild, and many other area theatrical groups; Tax Specialists from the Internal Revenue Service (during tax season); Representatives from Schenectady County Library; area museums including miSci & ESAM and many area non-profit organizations. We also try to highlight local artists and musicians whenever possible.
