The Eighth Steps New Concert Season

  • Mission: Founded 1967 as a youth project on Willett Street, along Albany’s Washington Park, against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights struggle, The Eighth Step is now in residence at Proctors and continues to present the finest national and international traditional or original folk & acoustic music performers: Celtic, Blues, Folk Rock & more. Over 20 concerts annually are powered by a sometimes rather eccentric but dedicated crew of 60+ volunteers joined by an average of 300 music-loving members.  We support the environment, working people, justice, peace & inclusivity.

This hands-on exhibits is complemented by a display of toys and collectibles from “The 20th Century Toy Chest” presented by Sassy’s Satellite Pop Culture Collectibles of Schenectady.

            Sassy’s Satellite – For over 23 years, Sassy’s Satellite has been upstate New York’s foremost purveyor of pop culture collectibles. From vintage toys to theatrical movie posters, resin model kits to painted statues, Sassy’s got it. Located in the heart of downtown Schenectady, Sassy’s has a 3,000 square foot retail gallery and showroom at 277 State Street, featuring thousands of items on display and/or for sale.  Business address: 1185 Parkwood Blvd. Sch’dy.

FAM 5K Run/Walk

Since 1994, Fenimore Asset Management has held its annual FAM 5K “Fund” Run/Walk each September. The event has grown to more than 800 participants and demonstrates our associates’ commitment to the community. It is a fun-filled, memorable day in the spirit of family, health, and charity. Each year, the proceeds from the race are donated to one of five different local charities on a rotating basis. Our vision is that Fenimore’s care for the community will continue for many generations. The mission of the FAM 5K “Fund” Run/Walk is to endorse and promote the qualities of family, health, and service to our community.
