Halloween Frankenstein Camp-In and more

Halloween Frankenstein Camp-In — Explore the museum with a spell-binding scavenger hunt; become a mad scientist exploring artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and robotics; learn about the things that go bump in the night in the planetarium; and gasp at the mystical properties of dry ice. Dinner and Breakfast included. Space is limited, register today! Children must be accompanied by adults.
International Observe the Moon Night — International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is an annual world-wide public engagement program that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. Gaze up at the moon at the same time as the rest of the world with Dudley Observatory at miSci — enjoy night sky observation, plus other hands-on astronomy activities!
SenseAble Science & Spooky Science on 10/29 — Enjoy special Halloween-themed activities throughout the miSci galleries. Costumes encouraged!
Halloween Movie Monsters Exhibit — Halloween has POPPED up at miSci with Halloween Movie Monsters, an exhibition of original movie props, vintage film posters, rare figures, life-size portrait busts and MORE. From King Kong to Godzilla, Frankenstein to Freddy, Jaws to The Joker; they’re all here – but only through Halloween! Special thanks to Sassy’s Satellite of Downtown Schenectady, the exhibit’s co-presenter.

The Bridge on Crane St.
Rev. James Bookhout
James Bookhout of The Bridge Christian Church has been in ministry over four decades in Schenectady. However, the last four and a half years have turned his life completely around, practicing mercy ministry, working with the underserved and disenfranchised. He believes that inner cities can be transformed for Christ by showing practical Biblical Christianity in the market place as well as in the church. The Bridge ministry offers a Food Pantry, Clothing Closet, a full-scale fitness center including a boxing ring, laundry facilities & The Bridge Veterans House, which will serve the homeless and veterans struggling with (PTS) Post-traumatic stress. Pastor Bookhout is president of the Mont Pleasant Merchants. He has brought national attention to Crane Street, working with the city council and local businesses to bring renewal and renovation to the inner city. Presently, James is working on grant assistance programs within the state of NY to help renovate store fronts in the business district of Mont Pleasant. A new modern Library on the main street and Family Park across the street from the church will be under construction soon. To raise awareness of the unsheltered homeless in the city, James annually has slept outside overnight in a cardboard box in the middle of February. He is known as a pastor and friend of widows, orphans, and hundreds of street people, some of which have joined The Bridge Church family. Joining him in his message will be some members of the City Council who will tell how the Bridge Church has made a positive difference in the city by changing their neighborhood. James has a strong vision that “if you raise the water in the harbor, then all the boats in the harbor will be raised also!”

African Festival – School for All in Ghana

Bring the whole family! Participate in drumming, “dancing for dollars,” a silent auction, making a bracelet or necklace with beads from Ghana—-and learn about Kekeli’s work with marginalized children in Ghana.

- Mission: Kekeli works to improve the lives of all by promoting the rights of those who are less able to speak for themselves. Our mission is to reduce stigmatization and ensure full inclusion of marginalized groups, including persons with intellectual disabilities, persons with cerebral palsy, cured lepers, etc., in Ghana by raising awareness, increasing educational opportunities, and training individuals to be able to access jobs in order to contribute to their society and their families.

TEDx at Mopco Theater

This is a half day event with 7 speakers, no longer than 18 minutes each. There will be 10-15 minutes for questions at the end of each talk. One of the slots presents entertainment. In addition there will be 2 videos from TED talks.

- Mission: In the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program helps communities, organizations and individuals produce TED-style events at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis, under a free license from TED. This is our 3rd annual event with a different theme each year. With so much strife going on in the world we have asked our speakers who represent diverse perspectives and areas of knowledge to speak to our theme of Worlds Imagined.
