Fight Against Domestic Violence

This is the 5 year anniversary of the assault of Tammy & Jessie and the 5^th fundraiser we do each year in their memory.  Brad will be reading a FB post he wrote on the 1^st anniversary of their death.

We will be hosting Richard Martinez who will be conducting a Zumba Class 6:00-7:00. Vendors will be stationed throughout Key Hall. Raffle Prizes will be announced at 7:00. Yoga cool down with Grace Janiszewski 7:30-8:00.

Proceeds will be donated to Schenectady High School and Mohonasen High School for scholarships

Confetti Stage’s King Lear

Long hailed as one of Shakespeare’s most heartbreaking protagonists, King Lear is an aging monarch who struggles with conflicting desires for love and power. Wishing to exchange his throne for a comfortable retirement, Lear plans to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters, with the biggest piece reserved for the daughter who loves him most. However, when his favorite daughter, Cordelia, is too honest to flatter as her sisters have, the king becomes petty and vindictive. He divides Cordelia’s share between the cunning Goneril and the bloodthirsty Regan, who are more than happy to use their newfound power against their father.

As the kingdom is thrown into further turmoil by the machinations of Edmund, the Earl of Gloucester’s treacherous bastard, loyalties are forged and broken, erupting in a storm of chaos that destroys almost everything and everyone that King Lear holds dear.

10^th Annual Empty Bowls at Union

The 10th annual Empty Bowls Project of Schenectady is a fundraiser designed to shine the spotlight of hunger and food-insecurity in our community. All proceeds raised will go directly to these three Schenectady not-for-profits: Concerned for the Hungry, the City Mission and Bethesda House.

Tickets to the event are $20 and each ticket holder is treated to dinner, their choice of a handmade ceramic bowl (created by students at Mont Pleasant Middle School) which serves as their keepsake of the event and to remind people about the “empty bowls” in our community. The evening includes entertainment, presentations from each of the community organizations, raffles and community.
