The new Downtown Schenectady Holiday Bazaar is 2-day outdoor seasonal marketplace featuring an array of vendors and artisans in heated tents offering original products, quality crafts and food items, along with downtown’s local businesses.
Join the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation for FREE and FUN activities for the entire family during Downtown Schenectady’s City Hall-iday. Stop by City Hall and hop on the horse-drawn carriage for a ride, then visit with Santa and have a FREE family picture taken. Many other hands-on activities, performances, musicians and much more!
Some of Downtown Schenectady’s best restaurants and pubs will open their doors to serve a variety of hot chili during the Schenectady County Chili Chowdown & Craft Brew Trail. In addition to the various varieties of chili offered, there will be a number of restaurants sampling regional craft beer.

Saratoga First Night

As one of the oldest and largest celebrations of its’ kind in the country, First Night Saratoga truly is the most affordable, accessible, safe and exciting way to spend New Year’s Eve in the region. On Sunday, December 31st join over 15,000 revelers as Saratoga Arts hosts over seventy regional and touring performing groups in thirty venues throughout Historic Downtown Saratoga Springs. Starting with the 5k road race at Skidmore College at 5:30pm, culminating with the fireworks in Congress Park at midnight and packed full of live music, dance, comedy and magic in between, this event will be a highlight of your outgoing year.
Matthew Boyce will be performing with the Suspicious Minds.

- Mission: Founded in 1986 by local artists, Saratoga Arts is dedicated to making the arts accessible throughout the Saratoga Springs area and enriching the lives of those in the community. To further this mission, the organization operates The Arts Center at the corner of Broadway and Spring Street in downtown Saratoga, where they present exhibitions, events (including First Night Saratoga), and classes throughout the year. The Arts Center has transformed into the region’s home for arts education for all ages.

World Class Ballroom Dancing in Niskayuna
- Natalia O’Connor, Owner & Dance Master

From their website: Natalia O’Connor is a professionally trained ballroom dancer who has performed and competed across the world on the amateur circuit since the age of 10. Ms. O’Connor has won various awards and toured extensively during her career in the industry. Having worked as an instructor in many places around the country and world, including Russia, Romania, Louisiana, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Vermont, she is the proud owner of the newest ballroom & fitness studio in the Capital Region. She is a former National Champion, World Semi-finalist and World Cup Finalist. She is a full member of the National Dance Council of America (NDCA) as well as the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), both leading governing bodies in the dance industry. Natalia has a BA in Psychology having studied both sports psychology as well as Behavioral and Social Psychology.
From their website: Florin Vlad, originally from Romania, is a world renowned competitive ballroom dancer and a multiple US National DanceSport Finalist, currently ranked 5th in the country. Together with his dance partner, Natalia O’Connor, he successfully represented USA at 5 World Championships. Florin is an active member of the Competitor’s Commission of the National DanceSport Council of America. He has a clear understanding of this industry with over 10 years of experience in competitive dancing as well as teaching experience. Mr. Vlad has a concentrated business experience being a young entrepreneur and successfully handling the various challenges that a start-up company faces in the civil engineering field. Ice Eagles: American Aviation in Antarctica
Thomas “Tom” Henderson, Filmmaker
“Ice Eagles” is the first film to document the entire remarkable history of aviation in Antarctica, from Admiral Byrd’s first expedition in 1928 to the present day, including the activities of the 09th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard based in Scotia, New York.
Mr. Henderson has been to Antarctica three times with the U.S. Geological Survey conducting mapping Antarctica. I wintered over at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1982 when temperatures reached -114 degrees F. “Ice Eagles” was inspired by the many hours that I spent on U.S. Navy LC-130 Hercules planes and Huey helicopters flown in support of U.S. operations in Antarctica.
