Below you will find listings for our interesting on-air guests for the next four weeks. Check out the lists below for our great variety of topics. We start filming at 10 am in THE ADDY THEATRE on Tuesday. A live audience is always welcome and there are plenty of seats. You can meet the guests in person and learn more about their projects or even get involved yourself.

Segment ONE
Dinner in the Dark!
Cheryl Lawyer & Nancy Murray with Nate – ACB Members/Volunteers
The Capital District Chapter of the American Council of the Blind New York (ACBNY) will host their fifth “Dinner in the Dark” on October 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Colonie Elks Lodge, 11 Elks Lane, Latham, New York. Tickets are $50 including cash bar and silent auction. Sponsorships are available. Proceeds benefit a new scholarship program for a student with vision loss.
“Dinner in the Dark” is a fundraising dining event to help raise awareness about living with vision loss issues in our communities. As guests enter the dining room, lights will be on as diners find seating and enjoy a salad and cocktail. As the entrée is served, lights are turned off, and all diners with any vision wear blindfolds as they dine. The only lights in the room will be from the glow sticks carried by the wait staff. During the dining experience, a moderator will provide helpful dining suggestions, as well as comic relief, while everyone enjoys their meal in the dark and acquires a sense of the challenges that people with vision loss experience.
Dinner choices are Pasta Primavera or Turkey Dinner. The entrée will be followed by coffee and dessert in a lighted dining room. Diners will share their experience of dining without vision, and yes, some funny dining moments!
“What an experience!” said first-timer Jennifer Humphrey. “At first it was kind of scary and challenging. As I got more comfortable, I really enjoyed the food and the laughter as well. It was a good idea to wear a bib. It was a great event, and I learned so much about living with vision loss.”

Segment TWO
Schenectady Symphony Orchestra – New Season
Glen Cortese, Artistic Director & Robert Bour, President
We’ll meet SSO’s new Artistic Director, Glen Cortese after their year-long search to succeed long time Maestro Charles Schneider after his 35 years of leading the SSO. We’ll chat with both about their upcoming season and plans/vision for the future of SSO.

Dozynki – Polish Harvest Festival

At 11:30 am there will be a Harvest Blessing of the event. Home Made Polish Food, Polish Beer and Bakery. Annual Parish Raffle with $l,000 grand prize, Basket Raffle, Crafts, Genealogy, Polish Dancers, DJ and more. There is Handicap Parking and seating available.
You can see George at the Rivers on Monday, Nov 4th playing with The Rogues Band.

Doll’s House Part 2

In the final scene of Ibsen’s 1879 groundbreaking masterwork A DOLL’S HOUSE, Nora Helmer decides to leave her husband and her children to begin a life on her own. Fifteen years later, she has returned. What does she need there?

Segment FIVE
Sports Women of the Year
Eric McDowell, President
The young ladies selected for this program will be chosen from hundreds of ladies nominated by Athletic Directors. A media panel will select 10 high school female student-athletes and five college female student-athletes. At the gala, the Grand Scholastic and Grand Collegiate Sports Women of the Year will be announced. These 15 recipients are already role models and will receive special recognition as they prepare for their future in their chosen career path. Later that fall, CDSWOY will also honor them on their campuses in front of their peers who will be bursting with pride.
The CDSWOY Social at Glennpeter Jewelers will feature free food and a cash bar with all the proceeds from the bar going to the Capital District Sports Women of the Year program. There will be silent auction items and a 50/50 raffle. Glennpeter Jewelers provides raffles for two gift certificates, a wine tasting event with a value of $1,500 and a design and wine party valued at $500. - Organization: Capital District Sports Women of the Year, Inc. (CDSWOY)
- Mission: The Capital District Sports Women of the Year program will honor the best and brightest young women from the high schools and colleges in our area. Their excellence in the classroom, in the community, and in the sports arena will be rewarded with a Gala as well as with media releases, a website, and campus recognition. CDSWOY will honor them with a Gala at Proctors in May of 2020. CDSWOY has received 501(c)(3) designation, which will now allow donors to deduct contributions made to this organization.
