Below you will find listings for our interesting on-air guests for the next four weeks.  Check out the lists below for our great variety of topics.  We start filming at 10 am in THE ADDY THEATRE on Tuesday. A live audience is always welcome and there are plenty of seats. You can meet the guests in person and learn more about their projects or even get involved yourself.

Segment ONE

Church & State at Sand Lake Center for the Arts

            Church & State is a fast-paced drama about faith, politics and “The Twitter”.  It is three days before Charles Whitmore’s Senate re-election and he’s decided to tell the public exactly what’s on his mind: no filter. What could possibly go wrong?

Segment TWO

Bites & Brews for SEAT

Jennifer Lawrence, Executive Director SEAT Center & Rob Christopher, Marketing Director, Rivers Casino & Resort

            Join us on Friday, October 4th at Rivers Casino and Resort for a fun evening of beer, food tastings, and music to support the education and workforce programs of SEAT Center.  Mingle with old friends and make news ones, while visiting over 15 live culinary stations; desserts; 4 brew stations; and our hosted wine and cocktail section.   Listen to Ill Funk’s mash up of hip/hop, neo- soul, R&B, and rock or bring your brew outside to enjoy the patio, fire-pit, and one of our area’s hottest rising talents, DJ Ketchup.

Segment THREE

Harry Potter Day at the Sch’dy Library

Shawn Schultz & Charlene Roman, Event Coordinators

            A day of magical fun for all ages. Classes for kids and adults, Diagon Alley vendors, photo booth, fortune teller, the Sorting Hat, Costumed characters and the escape room. There will be a shaved ice truck and a food truck outside.

            An additional event will be held on October 19th from 1-4 at Via/Port Rotterdam, this is for ages 7 through adult. Pre-registration may be done at our mall store A Second Look. For more information go to our Facebook page, A Second Look Bookstore. Harry Potter yoga will be held at the central branch of the library on October 1th.

Holocaust Essay Contest

Robert A. Michaels PhD, CEP

            Winning students, sponsoring teachers, and families are honored.  Students read their essays and receive cash awards and certificates of achievement.  The event is videotaped, and DVDs delivered to public television stations such as OSM Channel 16, broadcasting from Proctors Theater.  OSM generally broadcasts the event twice weekly over a period of one to two months, and it also may be available on demand via the internet.

            Examples of Holocaust Essay Contest Question Themes: Holocaust causes, resistance, denial, rescuers, lessons, prevention

Organization: B’nai B’rith Capital Area Holocaust Essay Contest

Mission: In a 12-county area around Albany and Schenectady Counties:  to promote Holocaust education and awareness among Middle School and High School students, our future voters and community leaders, to protect against possible repetition of this tragic era in history.

Event: 2020 B’nai B’rith Capital Area Holocaust Essay Contest

Scrabble-Rama Fundraiser

Al Magid PhD with Book Worm

            The Reading Is Fun Program is hosting a Scrabble-Rama competition/fundraiser at Schenectady High School cafeteria on Sat., Nov. 2nd, between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. Teams of 2-4 players (with their own Scrabble sets) will compete in three games for cash prizes of $300, $200 and $100. Cost is $20 per person. Free Continental Breakfast, raffle prizes and lively fun! Register your team by Oct. 15.
