Aneesa will talk about the Schenectady and troy restaurant as well as the upcoming Spa and tapas bar. She’ll do a demo with one of her cooking sauces.
From their website: The story of Tara Kitchen begins…with a love story. Owners Aneesa Waheed and Muntasim Shoaib met in Marrakech, Morocco and after a whirlwind romance, married under starry cobalt skies on a balmy North African night, in the shadow of the Atlas Mountains. They left their desert paradise for Aneesa’s hometown of Schenectady—and brought with them their love of Morocco’s rich cuisine and culture. In Tara Kitchen, the only Moroccan restaurant in the capital district, they share that love with a loyal and growing clientele. The couple opened the restaurant in 2012, after nearly three years of offering authentic ethnic food in the Schenectady and Troy farmers markets. Aneesa creates exotic yet accessible dishes—from fragrant tagines to delicious couscous—infused with the complex blend of spices and ingredients unique to Moroccan food. After receiving numerous requests for sauces to cook with at home, Aneesa created the Tara Kitchen line of distinctive jarred sauces that are free of gluten, nuts, soy, dairy, sesame and in some cases, salt and oil. They are available now on our website and at select Northeast Whole Foods stores, Price Chopper, Niskayuna Food CoOp and Honest Weight Food CoOP.

Sch’dy Symphony’s Winter Concert

Dave Keen is a native of Niskayuna, and played with the EYSO before pursuing a career as a professional filmmaker and composer in NYC.
The Adventures of Boof Margarine, by filmmaker/composer Dave Keen who is a Niskayuna native, pays homage to the silent comedies of the golden era of cinema. An original silent film will be viewed as a full symphonic composition will be performed by the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra at Proctor’s Theater, itself once a regular hub for the vaudeville performances of that era.

Schenectady Educational Foundation Gala

Entertainment and food are provided by the student musicians and culinary students of the district. CBS 6’s Greg Floyd will be the master of ceremonies. The foundation will recognize this fall’s grant recipients and will honor Kristin Munrett as The Robert Ludwig Teacher of the Year, the Niskayuna Rotary Club for their service to the students of the Schenectady schools, and Transfinder CEO Antonio Civitella as the recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

- Mission: The Schenectady City School District Educational Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that provides funding to educators for the enhancement of learning opportunities not otherwise available to students in Schenectady public schools. We do this by awarding grants to teachers who apply for funding for activities and materials for their students. During the 2017-18 school year teachers will receive $30,000 in grants.
