Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure !

Guests: Laura Greenaway, Development Director and Amelia Ambrosino, Development Manager

Tour de Cure is designed for everyone from the novice biker to the experienced cyclist and includes 10-, 28-, 50-, 62.5- and 100-mile rides.  Routes feature full-service rest stops as well as SAG and mechanical support along the way. After finishing, riders are greeted by cheering volunteers and treated to lunch from Mazzone Hospitality, a massage, music and much more.

Transgender Forum in Saratoga !

Guests: Trace Ellis, Trans Advocate and Cindy Swadba, Director Saratoga Pride

With the purpose of educating, and humanizing transgender issues, we will welcome a panel of five, including trans identified individuals and professionals working within the field. We hope to foster greater understanding of transgender realities, and help make Saratoga a welcoming and safe place for all transgender individuals.

Pride Unites is a community organization bringing lgbtq communities, individuals and allies together to uphold democratic values and promote the safety, well-being and civil rights of area lgbtq people. We support community education that encourages understanding and acceptance, as well as progressive candidates for public office and progressive legislation. We stand up for lgbtq communities and individuals who experience discrimination.

The George Landis Arboretum Plant Sale !

Volunteer Opportunity Fair – Colonie !

Guests: Ariana Wilson, Media Communications Specialist and Sue Napierski, RSVP and Volunteer Director

CSSC, Capital Region sponsor of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), will host the RSVP Opportunity Fair, a unique opportunity for volunteer organizations in Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady counties to meet individuals looking for volunteer opportunities! The fair will be held on Thursday, June 15 from 10am to 1pm at To be determined. Their Mission: Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) is a nonprofit, community-based senior service organization. We serve seniors and their families in Albany County, Schenectady County, Rensselaer County and throughout the Capital Region.

CSSC was established as a not-for-profit organization in October 1981, and has been serving seniors and their families continuously in the Colonie and Capital Region for 35 years.

CSSC is the largest provider of programs and services for seniors in the area. We help seniors remain healthy, active and independent; preserving and enhancing their quality of life as they grow older.

Upcoming Events:

  • On May 1, the King Thiel Senior Community opened the doors to its residents, and money is still being raised for the “Caring for Those Who Cared for Us” Capital Campaign.
  • On Friday, May 12, CSSC is hosting the Fashion Show to raise funds for Transportation Services
  • On Saturday, May 20, the Beltrone Living Center will host an Open House (free and open to the public).
