Below you will find listings for our interesting on-air guests for the next four weeks.  Check out the lists below for our great variety of topics.  We start filming at 10 am in THE ADDY THEATRE on Tuesday. A live audience is always welcome and there are plenty of seats. You can meet the guests in person and learn more about their projects or even get involved yourself.

Segment ONE

Dance Camp

Louise Giuliano, Chapter Chair; Sue Martin, Chapter Secretary; Ruth Lieberman, Chapter Treasurer & Director of Camps and Competitions

            Four hours of group instruction with the two women who, quite literally, wrote the book on Theatrical Dancing. Prior to this, there was no established syllabus for Theater Arts. Helpful for those who dance showcases, are competitive dancers, are involved with theater arts, or simply want to make their social dancing look more polished. Excellent for instructors of theater arts. {Note: there will be no lifts.]

            In the words of one of the instructors: “​This syllabus was created to fill the gap, ‘the untaught components’ that are ever present in all styles of dance. Although the title is ‘Theatrical’ it is for all dance performances. This syllabus allows the dancer to focus and develop quality in individual movements, before putting them together.”

• Mission: We educate, instruct and train individuals in developing their dance technique, movement, and style, through the recognized methods of dance sport. There are standards and syllabi which have been established by the USISTD for various dance styles, and this organization uses those standards and syllabi as the basis for teaching proper dance technique.

Nutrition and More

They will be discussing antioxidants, whole grains and the importance of breakfast. They will provide samples of foods and meals.

• Mission: The mission of Cooperative Extension is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. Our educators connect people with the information they need on topics such as commercial and consumer agriculture; nutrition and health; youth and families; finances; energy efficiency; economic and community development; and sustainable natural resources. Our ability to match university resources with community needs helps us play a vital role in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and communities throughout Schenectady County.

            CCE-Schenectady is a subordinate governmental agency with an educational mission that operates under a form of organization and administration approved by Cornell University as agent for the State of New York. It is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The association is part of the national cooperative extension system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments. As New York’s land grant university Cornell administers the system in this state. Each Cornell Cooperative Extension association is an independent employer that is governed by an elected Board of Directors with general oversight from Cornell. All associations work to meet the needs of the counties in which they are located as well as state and national goals.

Segment THREE

Angel Names Association

            The walk, held Saturday, Sept. 28, at Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., aims to raise awareness about pregnancy loss and infant death and honor dearly loved babies lost too soon. Registration is free.  The event is held rain or shine, with the majority of the day’s events under cover at the pavilion. It’s a day filled with music and refreshments, activities and crafts for children, and opportunities to create new friendships with those who have had similar experiences. The spirit of the walk is of encouragement and community. It is hopeful, uplifting and empowering. 

VOLUNTEER — Volunteering for the ANA Memorial Walk is not only fulfilling, but a lot of fun! Most assignments require only a couple hours of work the day of the walk, and can be tailored to your personality and skill set, whether you’re a people person or prefer to help behind the scenes.                Angel Names Association (ANA) was founded in May 2001 by Michelle and George Mosca, six months after the stillbirth of their firstborn son, Nicholas, at 37 weeks. When they were at the cemetery picking out a plot for their son, Michelle noticed plots that weren’t marked, or that were marked with what looked to be temporary metal plates. She decided that while she couldn’t do anything to save her son, she could help other families enduring the loss of a baby to have a fitting memorial for their child. 

               Today, ANA—a nonprofit, 501(C)(3), charitable organization—provides a variety of supportive services to families of stillborn children. Its programs provide financial assistance for end-of-life expenses such as autopsy, funeral, cemetery and monuments, and for counseling services for uninsured or underinsured parents. It also provides funding for much-needed stillbirth research. Although ANA’s primary focus is on stillbirth, several of its programs are designed for families who endure miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death.

• Organization: Angel Names Association
• Mission: More than 26,000 babies are stillborn in the United States every year. Angel Names Association is a nonprofit organization that aims to ease the financial burden imposed by stillbirth, provide supportive programs and services for families enduring the trauma of stillbirth, and raise money for stillbirth research. ANA is a reminder to bereaved parents that they are never alone on their journeys to honor and grieve their children.
